Just over two weeks ago I attended the #BlogYorkshire (@BlogYorkshire) meet in Leeds. It was a beautiful Saturday,
sunny and warm…there was a quiet promise in the air. The day was full of potential and the upcoming fun was already lingering. In other words, I was excited.
blogging nearly a year ago just because I had some time on my hands, a mind full
of words and there was this hope to meet new people. Mission accomplished, I
have now zero time left to be bored, my words are out there in the blogosphere
and I’ve managed to meet so many amazing people, either in real life or in
the imaginary social world. As a bonus, I get invited to blogger/fashion events organised
by companies. I haven’t had a chance to go to one where we bloggers would be at
the centre of the attention…. until now.
Carrie-Anne from Beauties Unlocked and Faith from Music and Eyeliner had decided
to launch #BlogYorkshire in order to get brands more involved with bloggers and
this meet was the first one. The turn out was amazing, I met
bloggers I already knew and I also got to know some I’ve never talked to.
What’s more, I met bloggers whose blogs I’ve been reading (or vice versa), but
we’ve never actually met, so that was a lovely surprise. It’s amazing when you chat with someone on Twitter and then you get to talk to
them in person?
Carrie-Anne and Faith
managed to get some great brands involved. Some of them were big brand
names you’ve probably heard of, but then again this meet was a great chance
for smaller local kinds to shout out loud about their merchandise.
Erene from Pastille
Leeds was there doing nails (unfortunately I’d just had mine done but I’m
planning on visiting them soon!). I also got to talk to two amazing ladies from
ESPA who were able to advise me on my skin problems and I also got an amazing
goody bag that was actually tailored for me – based on the conversation about
my skin. This is what I call amazing customer care! As well as that I got to talk to one of two girls representing Allertons (beauty salon from
Leeds), who was a beautician there and was actually from Slovakia! Meeting
someone from my part of the world made my day! The other girl from Allertons was busy styling other girls hair! Also, Georgina from She might be loved was doing a make up there (and I’m really sorry I didn’t give her a chance, because she knows her business. Let’s hope she’s there next time as well.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the competitions! And there were a handful of them! The first one,
a styling competition, was run by Quiz Clothing and another one by the lovely girls from Country Attire. Quiz
organised a styling competition (that I completely missed) and the lucky winner
was the lovely Rebecca from Queen Beady. Country Attire ran a good old Welly Croquet Game for a chance to win wellies. I
managed to actually put the ball in the welly, which put me n the running, but I’m not sure who won in the end.
I enjoyed this game so much, I’m pretty sure I’m going to try to organise it at
home as well. Carrie-Anne and Faith also prepared competitions for us…. so you can tell we weren’t bored at all!

It was a great afternoon and
I’m so glad I went. I managed to snap some pictures of my blogging partners in

Soon enough it
was time to leave, but fortunately some of us decided to visit the next bar,
Elbow rooms, where we drank some more wine and even played some pool. I was embarrassing myself playing, so I decided I’ll force my
boyfriend to give me some pool lessons. These lovely ladies that stayed with me and
played the pool were: Danniella from Famous in Japan, Corrine from Skincartree and
lovely Roxie from Simply Roxilicuous.
Maybe we should organise a blogger
pool tournament, what do you think girls!?
