Smoothie making: Vitamin C Bomb!

Smoothie making: Vitamin C Bomb!

Hello everyone! I woke up really excited the  other day as I was just about to make my very first smoothie! At the right time as well. My fiance was full of cold and I had no intentions of catching it! If you follow me on Instagram, you would know I won this amazing Brevilla Blend Active blender at a giveaway from Fresher Beauty – the best price ever if you ask me!

So I decided to make a healthy bomb, a smoothie full of cold fighting vitamins! The fun about making your own smoothies is that you can add as many extras as you want and not pay ridiculous amounts of your hard earned pennies for it! I had found a recipe online, but added extra coconut milk and bananas – my favourite ingredients. I knew there was no harm adding these and I was right, the final flavour was truly amazing! What is more ladies and gents, this smoothie was a massive hit with my 10-month-old nephew. He was going crazy for it! So if you have babies or kids and struggle to get some healthy fruits in them, make this super duper healthy smoothie!

1 1/2 grapefruit

1 pack of strawberries

1/2 pineapple

3 bananas

3/4 of a glass of coconut milk

1 small greek yogurt

Fruit smoothies are very good for you as they provide essential vitamins and minerals. So what do you get from my smoothie? Citrus fruits, such as grapefruits, provide you with tons of Vitamin C. Berries, such as strawberries, contains antioxidants – that decrease inflammation, and phytonutrients – that help fight disease! Tropical fruits, such as pineapples and bananas, are sources of vitamin C, potassium, folate and manganese, which keeps your bones, blood sugar, thyroid gland and nerves healthy. Amazing! So do you agree this smoothie was sent from heaven?

1. Cut the fruit into small pieces. I felt safer cutting them to make sure the smoothie maker will have an easy job.

2. Get ready your smoothie maker or a mixer.

3. Add a handful of strawberries, bananas, grapefruit and pineapple

4. Add 3-4 spoons of greek yoghurt.

5. Pour in the coconut milk. I added about quarter of a glass

6. Start with a slow program and then go higher…to give the smoothie maker a better chance of making a proper fruit puree.

Time preparation: 15 minutes

…and ta daaah! The smoothie is ready! From all the ingredients above I was able to make three bakers which translated onto five wine glasses of pure smoothie goodness! I also sprinkled a few strawberries on top to make it even more appetising! So as you can see, you can generate a lot of goodness on a budget.

Next time I’m going to be making homemade smoothies, I’ll add some oats and nuts so I can have it for my breakfast when I go to work. I’m sure if I start my day this way, my morning grumpiness will ease!

Smoothie making is easy, quick and cheap!

I recently got an active blend and it really is the best isn't it!! Your smoothie looks amazing.. I have yet to use strawberries in mine… how bad is that?!! I love using mango and banana. You could try using chia seeds for a breakfast style smoothie, I love doing that 🙂

Yes, it is, I should share more of my smoothies but I always drink them first, no time to take pictures! I've been using chia seeds for a long time now, they are amazing. I pretty much add them to any breakfast now, especially with yoghurt and fruits, nom nom!
