Winter can get a bit tedious sometimes, don’t you think? I longed for a change for some time now, wanting to get away from boring jumpers, jeans and scarves. I wanted glam, style, playfulness and elegance. And this is when I came across this simple Asos black straight line dress. It’s everything I wanted. Simple, girly with a pinch of effortless classiness.

This dress is perfect because you can dress it up or down. Add a white blouse to re-create an office look or a red blouse for a more going out look. I went for more Scandinavian monochrome style. The salt & pepper style grey colour satisfies my monochrome obsession. It’s different and I like it. If you long for a more typical  Black & White monochrome look, head over to my Black and White Wonderland outfit post, as you can see I’m totally digging the whole black and white colour scheme.

Why do we all love the monochrome?

Is it its effortless simplicity?

The understated colour palette?

Or the somewhat scandi vibe that comes with.

Who cares?

The Black and White combination is eternally chic and cool. I adore monochrome, it’s a clean style without being too austere and the perfect addition to any girls wardrobe.

To pull this outfit together, I’ve teamed the the black dress outfit with my New Look turtle neck. My best friend this winter as I adore it for it’s stylishness and practicality. Teaming winter knitwear with somewhat summery dress proved to be the way forward during the transition of seasons. Even though it’s still unbearably cold outside, I’m getting the spring vibes already. Perhaps it’s the light we now have early in the morning or perhaps it’s the birds singing on my way to work. I can feel the shift from winter to spring and it’s already echoing throughout my wardrobe.

To finish the look off, I added my latest find, oriental style necklace from Dorothy Perkins. The unobtrusive of the black colour ads a bit of glam, while I’m still making sure that the attention is not taken away from the dress itself.

As accessories go,  simplicity works
perfectly with some added glitz, whilst keeping the look classy,
and sophisticated.

Even though this might not be the classic masculine monochrome look we are all used to, it’s my own slightly amended version with added girly vibes.

It’s me. I don’t alter my style around fashion, I alter fashion around my style.
