I dream of a beautiful sunny day, drinking a cold beverage from a dewy glass sitting somewhere nice preferably nature, where I get to enjoy every little bit of sunshine. Instead, a winter gloomy darkness is getting the best of me. I feel down and not myself.
It’s a quiet morning and I’m standing next to a window, wrapped up in my cosy cardi. It’s so early in the morning I can see freeze on a field outside but then – I also see a quiet promise of a nice day. There, somewhere in the distance, sun is peeking from behind the hill and I already know it’s going to be a lovely day.
Enough is enough, I’m getting my new kicks on, dusting off the shades and chasing those winter blues away! Well maybe I’ve got a little over excited, but the sun is shining and I’m heading out for a morning walk around the city, maybe a spot of brunch. I’m not wasting one second of this clear blue sky. Who knows we might not see it again for a few months.
I hit the city early, Leeds is so lovely just before the shops open. When the shop keepers are preparing the shop floor, and the coffee shops are starting to fill up with the early worms catching up or reading the morning newspaper. It’s amazing how a clear blue sky can change the way you feel and see the world.
I think it’s really important to clear your head and this was the perfect the morning. We stopped at a little café for a spot of brunch (eggs Benedict mmmm), then went for a walk and finished it off with a coffee. We made a rule up that we would not use our phone so we could completely switch off, it was so nice to be talking without the glances at the phone every few minute. That was obviously after the initial anxiety of not being able to check my Twitter and Instagram notifications, but I stayed strong.
It was also a bonus to wear my new trainers and a new pair of jeans, the perfect combo for this weather. I’m not normally one for wearing trainers, but I fell in love with these brown leather ones from Moda in Pelle and when paired with my new H&M jeans I felt so comfy and relaxed. The jacket is an old statement of mine, also H&M and one of the best buys if you ask me. The whole outfit felt at easy, complementing my mood.
I think all of us heard of H&M but I actually haven’t heard of Moda in Pelle before – until I clicked on one of their ads (please tell me I’m not the only one who gets allured by pretty pictures!). It was love at the first sight, especially because I’ve landed on the page with my kicks (see their casual shoes section here), I mean they were mine as soon as I saw them.
Also, do you recognise my clutch? Yes it’s the same one as in my ‘Sleveless Jacket’ outfit post. I’m just obsessed collecting new trends from not so well known designers and shops. This little gem comes from Fibre and Hide, a Yorkshire based designer, who designs and woven her own fabrics and then creates these beautifully crafted leather bags and clutches.
I think we sometimes forget how to relax and let things get on top of us and stress us out. Although when you step out of the busy hustle of the day to day routine you soon realise it isn’t all that bad and the world is pretty amazing. I have a whole section on my blog referencing to Project Me Time and how to manage to find time for ourselves and one of my favourite posts is the one where I get to talk you through how I find my peace every single day.
How do you relax? Did you get chance to soak up the those winter rays?
