Outfit Post: Mastering my Workwear

The first thing I used to think of when I heard the office fashion style, was probably “costume” and perhaps “boring”. Neither one nor the other is true anymore. Office wear no longer consist of a boring suit and professional women nowadays have a wide variety of styles to pick from.

Ever since we women have jobs in the office, our working style moves between three entirely different poles: be prepared for anything, look good and feel comfortable. Something I’ve been eager to tackle since my life in the office has started.

Fortunately, at my work we don’t really have your typical business casual dress code, which means that, outside the official meetings with clients, I can just turn up dressed a little more interesting than the austere suit. I’ve been reading a lot of work wear dress codes recently as I would personally like to progress and evolve my personal style. I think it comes with the age. I no longer fancy ‘jeans and a classy blouse’ combo but I also stay clear away from all those stereotypical office suite mishmashes.

However, and I can’t stress this enough, representativeness is important, of course. You can go for a simple loose vest, shirt with interesting folds or tops in sober colors like black or dark blue. Or you can be a bit bold and try a bit more daring office look. Like I did in this outfit post. I do love a good working shirt or a blouse, these are my working staples I tend to go for the most.

I actually love this loose and airy shirt and its bright pink color and added ruffles. If you’re a gal longing for a more fashion-forward look then this pink Zara blouse is the right match for you. The frilled top with round neck and long detailed sleeves stole my heart the moment I saw it. It’s both, professional and playful. It’s the classic borderline of classic office look and bold style.

Don’t be afraid though. This bold statement blouse is essentially not that hard to style.

When styling bold pieces I go by one rule only – match it with simple subtle pieces to balance it out.

That’s why I opted out for my (also new addition) Zara culottes. As soon as I put these two pieces on at Zara’s dressing room, I immediately fell in love with this whole office outfit ensemble. I mean, can you blame me?

I’ve just realized this post is entirely Zara, not on purpose, except I love their latest collection! Zara, Oasis, Mango and Warehouse are my go-to brands. I consider them as brands that know style and substance can go hand-in-hand, and understands those everyday challenges that professional women face in real life. Their fashion is chic and elegant whilst staying practical.

Quite obviously comfort is key for me. Despite the fact that I long to look stylish and smart, I also ought to feel confident and comfortable – one doesn’t go without another. With the beginning of this year, I feel inspired and ready to turn things around for me. This is the beginning of a new year, a year of big ambitions & career goals! Whilst I’ve been doing my readings every night, I’ve been also upgrading my work wear wardrobe as I no longer want to stand in front of a full wardrobe, thinking I have nothing to wear. I want my wardrobe to inspire me and I’m not ready to compromise.

I hope that this outfit encourages you to try something new! It’s so important to experiment with your fashion sense, push those boundaries a bit further and step out of your comfort zone.
